It is a big difference between low pressure and high pressure sodium lamps, the low pressure emits almost a monocromatic light at 590 nm while the high pressure one emits a more broadband light with peaks at 20% at 500 nm, 60% at 570 nm, 50% at 590 nm, 65% at 610 nm, strenght relative to the high pressure lamps 100% at 590 nm. It may well be the light itself that you feel, but that should be easy to test! Put something over your eyes that is completely opaque, just closing your eyes will not do since the eyelids to let light through. If you still feel the sensation it is probably not light (if you have your clothes on and they cover the skin). PLEASE let us know after you have tested this! Since light installations of this kind requires lot of power and have multiple possible contact points with earth, ground currents may give rise to high magnetic fields along the street, check this!
