You can obtain more information on the Melatonin Study by contacting the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). EPRI was the funding agency and has published the final report we submitted last November. The final report is a rather detailed and lengthy document, and I believe there is a charge for copies. If you are interested in obtaining a copy, you should contact the EPRI Distribution Center. Be sure to reference the Report Number. EPRI Distribution Center 207 Coggins Drive P.O. Box 23205 Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 (510) 934-4212 Report: TR-107242, Novemer 1997 Additionally, we will submit a manuscript for publication in a peer-reviewed journal within the next few months. Once this has been published, I would be happy to send you a copy. Finally, I wanted to point out a factual error in the email message from Louis Lee which was attached to your message. Currently, it states "Researchers suspect that reduced melatonin levels in women may trigger other hormonal changes, including a REDUCTION in levels of estrogen. REDUCED estrogen levels could be associated with increased risk of breast cancer." This is not correct. Reduced melatonin levels may result in INCREASED estrogen levels and INCREASED estrogen may be associated with increased risk of breast cancer. If you have any further questions or if you are interested in obtaining a copy of the manuscript once it is published, please let me know. Sincerely, Norma M.
