......I hope Robert Bedard (of WAVEGUIDE fame) won't object to my
sharing the following good news with everybody.... He has been working on
this for some time now.....

Robert, I think that there are enough people who have kept files
so that we may be able to collect any (most) missing messages.....
They are not all "pretty" or "wise," you know..... But, I am in
favor of us doing as thorough a job of retrieval as possible....

I will "stand by" the **consistency** of my (our) message......

MANY THANKS (from ALL of EMF-L).......

Subject: Update on archive project

Roy:

Have received funding by donation (private party) for the new site; have
looked over what I have from emf-L, and am getting ready to start this
week or next.

What I have:
1) an EMF documents directory containing a little over 2 MB of text
files, (gems from emf-L, attachments sent to me, and things I "found" on
the net, including things like the OET Bulletin65 et. al.),
2) all emf-L messages dating from 9-5-97 through current, (except for a
short period 3-17-98 to 5-5-98 I lost due to a system crash), this
represents on the order of about 15+ megabytes of messages,
3) messages from the Newtons during the same time period.

Libby Kelly has already sent me some materials, and it looks like I may
facilitate her needs to get some of it posted as well.

I did some experimenting with search capability this weekend, and while
it is not what I would like ideally, it will certainly be a lot better
than nothing ... it will search the text of the archived documents, and
provide a list of links to the documents that contain the search term.

I will let you know later in the week how things are going. It will take
a few days to get the Domain registered, and get the site going.

Keep up the good work!

rob't
