.......This needs to be circulated to our full list - in oder to reach
as many of our researchers as possible..... I think "it" a very valid
question: possible evidence of an association between EMF effects and
childhood "attention deficit" disorder.....??

One place that Dr. Plumlee should look is:

"Assessment of Health Effects from Exposure to Power-Line
Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields"
(NIEHS Working Group Report, August 1998, published by NIEHS)

This is the "infamous" RAPID study which I regard as having badly
"missed the mark" - largely because NIEHS was determined to do so....
(In spite of some very "illuminating" individual studies, the report
did not attempt to "weigh" the evidence and tell us "where" it may
be leading us.... Instead, the report cautiously took a clearly
pro-industry position, downplayed the possible long-term
consequences as well as risks, and firmly "embraced" the usual
governmental $$$$$$$-profits protective stance.... The
forwarding letter, later written by the head of NIEHS, Dr. Kenneth
Olden, was worse....)

I have many comments about that on my website.... Nuff said.....

But, that collection of the research biblio, is perhaps the most
complete that is available.....

You should be able to obtain a copy by e-mailing one of the drafters
(NOT actually responsible for the "tilted" outcome), Dr. Mary Wolfe -
wolfe@niehs.nih.gov

Hope others who may have some additional related research answers
will contact Dr. Plumlee.....

Also, the paper on my website containing portions of a paper by Dr.
Robert Liburdy on melatonin effects ought to be looked at....!!!
(Indeed, you should contact Dr. Liburdy, himself.....)

Cheerio....(P.S. I am not a PhD ... just a "peon.".....)

Subject: Attention Deficits

Dear Dr. Beavers,
I am on a listserve with many psychiatrists and psychologists who are
trying to resist pressures to diagnose children with "attention
deficit-hyperactivity syndrome" and drug them with Ritalin and other
drugs. Can you send me summaries of specific studies from the
refereed scientific literature that indicate that attention is impaired
by emf? Has hyperactivity been studied?
Gratefully,
Larry Plumlee, M.D.
