Subject: calcium leakage

Dear Mr. Beavers,
I wrote you once before about a GTE cell tower that is being erected
1200' from our house. I was worried about health effects since we have
lived 125' from a 345,000 volt power line for the past 15 years. You
told me that the power line field would probably be more injurious than
the cell tower emissions.
Since hearing about the building of the cell tower I have began to
study the literature about EMF and have purchased a meter to measure the
field in our house. We get a pretty consistent 5-7 miligauss level in
the house. This is due to the power line and not any faulty wiring, as
the level reads the same outside at the same distance from the line.
In the past 3 years I have experienced 3 breakages (probably
hairline cracks; I did not have them x-rayed) of my ribs. These were the
result of what I would consider relatively minor strains. One of them
occurred while I was leaning over the seat of my car, reaching for
something in the back.
I have read that EMF can cause calcium leakage, but never see it
associated with osteoporosis or other bone diseases. I am wondering if
you have seen any data that correlates excessive exposure with such
diseases.
My community is contacting media and legislative sources about the
abuses of the cell phone industry in Texas. In rural counties, like the
area where I live, there is almost no regulation of the industry because
counties have almost no zoning authority. GTE erected their 480' tower
without a single permit from the county and no one in the community, nor
our county officials knew they were coming.
I am a writer and have composed articles telling the story of their
entry into our community. It is a rather colorful story, beginning with
their breaking our water line, cutting the flow off at the meter and
then leaving for the weekend, with no attempt to notify us. They also
mistakenly used our private road, thinking it was county maintained.
They have made a lot of mistakes here, which would never have happened
had there been the least bit of oversight.
I have appreciated your website for its up-to-date information. I am
now composing an article for a local environmental journal and am
finding some very useful facts. Keep up the great work.
Best wishes,
Bette Stockbauer
