.........I am familiar with the magnetic (induction) stoves cited
below, but so far as I know - no research about their safety viz
EMF health concerns has ever been produced. It is conceivable
that they are safer than the "resistance" type burners that
have been used on the standard electric stove-top for years.....
I have had concerns about the standard electric stove (and oven)
for some time ... but, again, the researchers (epidemiologists)
have not studied them for possible ill-effects...... To my
knowledge......

During the RAPID study, one of my "questions" about the strategy
they adopted was: **why** did they decide that no more
epidemiology was needed???? That, in fact, was the decision.

They wanted to place all of their money on toxicology
(lab-research)......??? The whole effort seemed to be directed
at finding the biological "mechanism" to the exclusion of all
else...... If they failed in that - then they were in a position
to say (as they implicitly did, in their final report) that the
epidemiolological findings were "unsupported" by the lab results???
(NOT good science - but perhaps good politics.....!!!)

The epidemiology is still the best evidence that we have in the
EMF saga - that "we have a problem." And, most of that strong,
consistent evidence is research about the 60 Hz problem ...
not the RF or MW.....

Electric stoves and ovens was one of the exposures I wondered
about in connection with breast cancer...... But, when "the $$$$$$
decide that they don't want to find out" the potential dangers ...
the public has no real input into the "public safety" equation???!!

I have no answer for the question below..... So far as I know, it
is another one of those "answers not wanted" by an establishment that
prefers NOT to know.....

Sorry...... (Anybody else know of research on this - not "speculation"
- research.....)

Dear Mr. Beavers,

I was given your mail address by Neil Cherry who felt
that you may know something about the potential dangers of EMR from the
new induction or 'magnetic' cooktops.

These induce heat in ferrous pans by producing a strong local
alternating magnetic field under the pans bottom.

As far as I understand the dangers, the question seems to be how
local the field is (they are supposed to be around 90% efficient) and the
frequency of the alternation. Could you be so kind as to mail me back if
you have any data on these or know anybody else who may be able to help.

    Many thanks

     Marius Schrecker (Norway)
