Beavers" Subject: Unfriendlies Roy In the 'cold war' days when I was active in Electronics and Computing for Peace I regularly used set up duff messages re meetings and watch as the cars/vans turned up to wait for us! Quite fun, really. I once did a Newsletter article with a cover with a computer with a hand emerging holding on to a strategic bomber. This was waved in anger in the UK House of Commons as an example of "subversive anarchists" which, of course, we weren't. A few months later the UK Ministry of Defence 'pinched' the idea and ran an almost identical artwork as a high-tech recruitment advertisement! These days I just assume my communications are scanned not just by the UK but by the US NSA which has an enormous comuterised scanning station at Menwith Hill, Yorkshire which scans ALL international comms to/from the UK. For secure comms I use post with written message inside aluminium cooking foil in a paper envelope well sealed with sellotape (clear scotch tape) with my signature in key places. As far as I know these have never been broken although a few have gone missing - but I can cope with that. Fun, eh?
