Re HR. 3844: Just want to make a simple statement.  Please be advised that
the "Thomas website" does not contain ALL the updates. It should not be
used to pass the status of bills, lest people be misled. The best update on
bills is to contact Congress directly, The have information before it gets
on the website, and even information that never makes the website such as
the following I received on Friday, August 21. Sorry I did not pass it on
sooner.

Senator McCain's office, Committee on Commerce, informed me that HR 3844
indeed reach the Senate. Due to the lack of time remaining on the calendar
of the 105th Congress this year, the Senate will take NO ACTION on it.
However, the Senate IS DRAFTING a COMPANION BILL to HR.3844 which be
introduced, they expect, in January in the newly assembled 106th Congress.

The fact that the above transpired, which we anticipated, should not allow
us to relax our guard. Anything can transpire between now and October 9
when the Congress recesses. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?

As for HR.3016 and  S.1350, it is my opinion that Commerce will attempt to
act on these preemption bills, but not in the 105th Congress. The NEW, yet
unnumbered, Leahy bill will probably go nowhere this year; although it
could ensure his reelection. Since the new bill sort of regurgitates the
old mentioned bills, it will probably be the lighted candle impetus
introduced in the 106th Congress.
