Roy,

In October 97, I spent a good deal of time on Dr. C. Everett Koop in the
expectation he - as the man who took on tobacco - would explore ( and
thus explode ) EMF. Similar efforts with Ralph Nader had a minor effect.

Dr. Koop got the full package of EMF information and didnt even have the
courage to tell me to bugger off. His people even refused to
characterize his opinion on the health hazard of EMF in any way.

If you had the chance to see and hear Dr. Epstein at the Ottawa World
Breast Cancer Conference [ ironically under a large Dairy Industry
banner as sponsor ] you would get a feel for the amount of fault the
food industry bears for polluting our food, depleting our health.

His book Politics of Cancer is mandatory reading for all EMF interested.
I first spoke with him four years ago on a mechanism for EMF.

In addition to the cancer industry indictment - a major hurdle for EMF
advocates - is the distressing story of meat and dairy industries in
America and their political foothold.

There are intersections in terms of irradiated food - an inglorious
Canadian invention gaining globally in the name of health - and
electromagnetic fields.

The Ottawa World Breast Cancer Conference had a good EMF content but
their general EMF awareness and communication with these groups is low.

Needless to say, all the EMF groups everywhere should elevate the
communications conduits with this important ally given we have so many
common objectives.

On the Koop v.s. vegetarians theme [ of which I am one ] and the article
by an Armour meat family relative, I would suggest John Robbins Diet for
a New America.

This is the son of the Baskin Robbins empire who gave up a billion
dollar inheritance to share his inside story of the dairy industry, its
practices and the impact on health in America.

We would be hard pressed to find a more compelling demonstration of
courage of convictions than that embodied in John Robbins.
