Officially, there is no "agreed" answer to your question.....  Government/industry
ducking their responsibility to inform the public, etc.....

But, here is my answer -- if it were ME.... I would not buy the house within a
half mile or so from a power line of ANY size transmission line or substation......

"Science" doesn't really know the answer, yet, to the "health" question (childhood
leukemia risk).....  But, within -- perhaps five years -- when more is known
and 
more of the public knows more about the risks (of ALL EMF/EMR) ... I predict
that 
no future buyer would buy your house from you...!!  In other words, the
decision should be based upon the LIKELY future devaluation of your
property...... 

I would "draw the line" at about a half mile -- in terms of that "financial' aspect....

There are a lot of new housing subdivisions that are popping up around high 
voltage lines.  I am considering a purchase of a home near a powerline.  
Obviously the farther away the better but what is the "Safe" distance from a 
power line?

What bothers me is that these are not First-time homes that they are 
building. ($250M) All the Realtors talk about is that you dont want to have 
it in your back yard as an eyesore but across the street a little further is 
acceptable...
