Hieverybody:

It seems that the way "democracy" works in Denmark is no better
than in the U.S.......

I hope EVERYBODY is seeing clearly how closely the EMF ISSUE is
tied into the **deterioration of democratic principles** throughout
our Western world....!! What is causing it???  The power of
corporate $$$$$$$ has polluted the democratic machinery almost 
everywhere that U.S.-style "free  market" capitalism is in vogue.....

One of the unchallenged ASSUMPTIONS, which that kind of capitalism
brings with it, is:  ANY regulation is BAD!!!  Particularly --
ANY REGULATION THAT MIGHT LESSEN PROFITS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL OR 
PUBLIC HEALTH GOALS.....

Our Western governments are "buying into" that assumption too easily
... because of the overwhelming importance they attach to such 
values as:  job creation, economic development, profits, tax revenue,
etc......  Sadly, sometimes it is a case of out and out bribery of
our political "servants", too....

Public health and the environmental issues simply don't get any
"weight" in the deliberations of our Western governments today..... 
That is what I see in the case below......

Sianette -- why don't you invite someone like Dr. Marino to come and
meet with your people.....????

There are plans to install a new stronger and higher powerline (400 KW, 42
meter high) through Jutland in Denmark. It will pass residential areas all
the way from north to south. There were public hearings, but only people
living at less than 200 meters' distance were notified. However, there were
protests from all inhabitants, including the politicians living in the
villages and towns near by . The power company tried to pacify the people,
by telling that there is no proven danger. They brought in experts i.e.
their engineers, engineers from the Technical University, an expert of the
National Cancerboard  etc. who of course all strongly denied any harmful
effects. The work of the expert from the Cancerboard is heavily subsidized
by the 3 largest mobile telephone companies (it is like the tobacco
companies once again!). Now the inhabitants were given a last chance to
submit their protests. Since this is a rural area, it is difficult for them
to mobilize both more protests and proof of health effects. Many are also
not informed of what is happening in other countries
Does anybody has any suggestions or advice as what can be done?
