Investigative reporter Ellen Sugarman has released a revised edition
of her popular book, Warning: The Electricity Around You May Be
Hazardous To Your Health. How to Protect Yourself from Electromagnetic
Fields. Originally published by Simon and Schuster, the 1st edition of
Warning sold over 25,000 copies in 7 printings. The 2nd edition, was
published by The Miriam Press in November 1997 ($16.95); the revised
edition includes new information on cell phone and RF radiation
hazards. The book also offers practical, common sense advice on how to
protect yourself and your family from 60-hertz EMFs in the home, the
workplace, your children's schools and your community.
Sugarman has been researching the health risks of EMFs since 1989,
when she began interviewing scientists, EPA staff, power compnay
officials, electrical workers unions, and public utility commissions.
In the book, Sugarman reports that the amount of undisclosed
information about EMFs is enourmous, and that a coverup results from a
collusion between industry and the federal government.
[Guru: A-MEN!!!!!! and Right on!!!!!! Though that statement is not news
to the folks who have been reading guru's EMF-L (now the "concealed list")
over the past 26 months......]
Sugarman says
that "the purpose of the book is to inform and empower. It is only
through a genuine understanding of the up-to-date facts about EMFs
that you can take steps to protect yourself and your family from
dangerous exposure to the fields."
Some of the topics in Warning include:
* The hazards of cell phones
* How to arrange your office to avoid EMFs
* How to keep your children out of EMFs
* What are the potential EMF sources in your neighborhood?
* How saving energy can cut EMF exposures
* Which appliances are safe -- and which are not
* Can you work at a computer and avoid EMFs?
* Property values and power lines
* RF radiation surrounding you.
Warning presents clear guidelines on how to control your EMF exposures
inside and outside, at home and work and school. It shows you how to
reduce your EMF risks, in ways that are affordable and will fit with
your lifestyle. It provides important, practical information on a
misunderstood environmental hazard that we're all exposed to in our
normal, daily comings and goings. It does all this in layman terms
that are easily accessible and carefully documented. Sugarman even
provides you with a thirty page appendix of EMF health effects studies
to help you sort the fact from the fiction.
While Sugarman's book will not be available in bookstores, it may be
ordered from the IVI Online Store at
