Norwegian all-day-news-channel radio switches over to BBC World Service at night - and suddenly I heard Roger Coghills name mentioned and EMR ... (BBC World Service, Insight at 22 hours GMT, 2.12.98) They had a over 10 minutes long bit on EMR - focussing on mobile phones. Starting with a finnish angle, where the number of mobile phones is just about to exceed the number of corded telephones. So they started by interviewing a woman who was ill with ES; then cut in a good bit with Roger Coghill (who did a good job). Then they went on to Nokia (finnish of course) - where some public relations person for this subject (oddly enough obviously english of origin and language) said his bit about it being perfectly harmless - but he included that standards so far only are about the thermal part of the radiation. Roger Coghill was allowed to come back, again good. A finnish researcher from some official institute said the standard official response about nothing found so far etc... The Nokia person was asked whether he thought that there was a chance that in a couple of years it would be found that the radiation in fact was harmful - and his answer was evasive. Some consumers were asked and gave the normal non-informed answers. Perhaps it is possible to get the whole thing tanscribed from the BBC. It was a good program, serious in tone, balanced, good reporter. with warm greetings Ingrid High Archive provided courtesy of WaveGuide, http://www.wave-guide.org Reprinted with permission of Roy Beavers, http://www.feb.se/EMF-L/EMF-L.html
