Hi everybody:

I agree with Jeff's comment below -- including his implied criticism of
my (careless) formulation..... I agree that the thugs should not be
identified with Pat Buchanan -- or for that matter, with 95% of the
activists who were there protesting the WTO.....

Their protests seem to have accomplished something -- in fact....

Some of the TV (and NPR radio) coverage that I have caught -- have
treated the activists (and their issues) very favorably....

A spokesman (lady) named Wallach -- I thought -- did an exceptionally
good job of explaining the problems that are being created by the
WTO..... I hope I don't misrepresent here views, when I say that she
made it quite clear ... the problem is not with "trade" (per se) ...
but with trade/profit driven at the expense of other equally or more
important values: like the preservation of our rights to decide locally
about our environmental and health rules/laws.... She did a better job
than I am doing..... But she was an excellent spokeswoman.... (I saw
so many programs on the subject, I just can't remember which one she was
on....) If anybody "out there" knows her, I hope you will convey my
admiration for the job she did..... We could use her on the EMF cause...

Jeff -- thanks for your message....

Cheerio.....

Hi, Roy --

>-If you and your hooligan thugs must destroy ....

The way you wrote that, it sounds like you're saying it to Buchanan -- but
the article did say:

>-He added that violence by a small number of demonstrators was
>- ``deplorable.''

...so he's not endorsing that. NOTE, however, there exists a possiblity
that the violence is _not_ being wrought by the demonstrators; it could
easily be "agents provocateur", for all we know.

Things are shaping up (in the public mind) as a choice between
unacceptable 'liberalism/socialism' and unacceptabel 'anarchy'. The
likely choice, the synthesis of this thesis and antithesis, to be offered
to us at some point, would be "more governmental control for the sake of
business and the sake of law and order".
