......Presidential candidate Pat Buchanan certainly has a way of
"putting his foot in his mouth" for good causes.....

I, too, agree with the goal of the demonstrators against the WTO in
Seattle.....  But I do not agree with the means they are using to
make their cause known to the public.....  (See news report below.)
 
Anarchy in the streets (such as we are seeing on our TV news reports this
morning) will never bring down the American oligarchy.....  

Rightfully, as Buchanan says below, the WTO is an "embryonic monster."

"If there is one message we are trying to get across," says Buchanan,
"it is that we stand against global government and an undemocratic new
world order."  

Fine words, Pat.  But the American people don't understand what you are
saying.  The American people don't KNOW that the WTO has become  a
'machine' for over-ruling all local control by people over their OWN
lives....  

The WTO is but the latest in a long history of attempts by
global wealth to separate itself "out from under" the restraints that
the rule of nations confine them within, and place the monstrous global
corporations outside any law -- except that which they have created for
themselves:  the WTO.....

The American oligarchy, Pat -- rule by a privileged few special interests
who have "bought" their power via our 'corrupted' political system 
(just as they "bought the policy of the current President, who is, in
fact, one of those principally responsible for the advent of the WTO) --
they are the "enemy."  Not the unfortunate local businessmen in
Seattle who are the victims of the current anarchy there.....

If you and your hooligan thugs must destroy -- destroy the current
administration in the White House that has brought this on.....  Go to
Washington and 'break out some windows".....  (While you are at it --
you might break some skulls too....)

Attacks against innocent local businessmen will not win you the sympathy
of the American people!!!   And that is what you need to get the BIG LIAR
out of the White House -- and the rest of the "I'm for sale" congressmen
and senators whose kowtowing to BIG $$$$$$$ special interests is creating
the public's disenchantment with our democracy......

Buchanan Praises WTO Protesters

           SEATTLE (AP) _ Conservative presidential candidate Pat Buchanan
 praised the thousands of demonstrators marching against the World
 Trade Organization, calling the Geneva-based organization that sets
 the rules of global trade an ``embryonic monster.''
           Buchanan said Tuesday that the WTO was taking away the
 sovereignty of the United States and the thousands of WTO
 demonstrators were right to take to the streets to disrupt the
 opening day of meetings.
           ``If there is one message we are trying to get across, it is
 that we stand against global government and an undemocratic new
 world order,'' said Buchanan, who is seeking the Reform Party
 nomination for the presidential race.
           ``We Americans alone should decide issues of vital significance
 to our destiny and our national security. No global organization is
 ever going to be allowed to impose its rule against the sovereignty
 of the United States of America.''
           Buchanan said he would not be joining the demonstrators on the
 streets, but he was working with labor and environmental groups to
 bring down the WTO.
           ``The WTO should never have been created. It an embryonic
 monster. I don't think it has a great life expectancy,'' he said.
           He added that violence by a small number of demonstrators was
 ``deplorable.''
           ``It takes away from the tens of thousands who are walking to
 demonstrate that their jobs and their security and their American
 dreams are being sold out,'' said Buchanan.
           He also attacked an agreement between the United States and
 China on terms for China to join.
           ``By bringing China into the WTO and by seeking to grant China
 unrestricted, open access to the greatest market on Earth without
 asking anything in return, Bill Clinton in my judgment is dealing
 away the human rights of the Chinese people, selling out the
 workers of the United States and impairing the sovereignty of this
 country,'' he said.
