Subject: Archives (Bedard).. Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1999 054904 -0600 (CST) From: "Roy L. Beavers"To: emfguru -------------------------------------------------- .......Yes Robert!! People ARE interested in the Archives!! They are also doing a good job of finding guru's new website -- which has recently been updated with new material..... I liked the comment I received from one reader: "John Moulder needs to look at how "we" are doing it....." (From a reporter who does not wish to be identified.....) Cheerio...... (Keep that nose to the grindstone, Robert.... It IS important ... and it IS appreciated.....) Roy Beavers (EMFguru) roy@emfguru.com .....It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness..... NEW!!! Website ...................People are more important than profits................. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1999 02:20:48 -0800 From: Robert Bedard To: rbeavers@mail.llion.org Subject: Archives Roy: Well ... it appears that people have actually been linking to documents in the archives. I have had 1200 404 errors since I re-arranged the site (that is 1200 documents requested for which there is no document at that address, the vast majority of which were in archives/emf-l.) This is most unfortunate and unanticipated. (I doubt that it could be search engines ... I requested the site be re-indexed by about four of the big ones, and they could be looking at old links to remove them, but I think it's more likely outside links into the archives, because the search engines show up in the traffic stats because of their GROSS amount of traffic.) This good news and bad news. It is bad news because it is inconveniencing people; it is good news because PEOPLE ARE USING THE ARCHIVES! I wish I would have organized the archives differently at the outset, but people will get used to the new organization, and it really is superior to the old one. FYI: in the old system, all the files were in archives/emf-l, but now there are folders for each month and year -- Jan1999, Feb1999 etc., so messages from December of 1998 would be at http://www.wave-guide.org/archives/emf-l/Dec1998/ Still have some details to work out, (like the Library and the Forum) then it's on to developing new content. There is a "new" (have not been there in a while) document at the EMF RAPID EMF-DATA site on average exposure by environment that I want to check out ... I "grabbed" a copy today, while verifying their link was still good ... think I will read it now ...
