Dear Roy and All,

Best wishes to Laurel on her marriage . . . . and to Roy for his continued
dedication into 2000 and beyond.  Happy New Year to All!

I'm going to try to top Laurel's news, so just want to say that my wife,
Stella, and I met on this night -- New Year's Eve, 1943, fifty-six years
ago --  at the New Year's Eve dance, #1 Wireless School, Montreal.  We were
both in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Stella studying to become a Wireless
Operator, and I, a Wireless Mechanic.  After going together for three
months, Stella got posted west, and I east.  She was born on the west
coast, and I, the east coast.  Later, as I was sent overseas, we did not
see each other again until September of 1946.  At that time we decided to
become engaged, and, again after two weeks together in Vancouver, BC, we
did not see each other for almost a year until we were married in Montreal,
QC, September 3, 1947.

We are planning a very quiet evening together tonight as we celebrate our
meeting and watch for the coming of the year 2000.
