Roy,

First, thanks SO much Roy for all your hard work with this list - even on
the weekends!  I assure you I read most of the messages faithfully, even if
I'm silent for long periods.

I believe Alasdair may have the best solution, albeit somewhat costly.  But
I'd like to point out something helpful others may not have thought of.  To
allow the CRT to display a picture quite soon after they are turned on,
nearly all modern TV sets are maintained in a partially energized state
even when they are off.  Thus rather high electric fields are present as
long as TV's are plugged in.  I urge people to unplug their TV when not in
use.  (Our society is so hung up on convenience - why should we care about
a few extra seconds for the TV to warm up!  Not to mention the wasted
energy consumption!)
