A small world but an interesting one. :-) This originated on EMF-l; I
forwarded it to some other lists I'm on; Dave Hartley, a cyber-friend
of mine, apparently forwarded it further still; somewhere along the
line Dr. James DeMeo, head of Orgone Biological Research Laboratory and
carrying on the work of Wilhelm Reich, got hold of it and is now
sending it out to -his- list (which I'm on, too :-).
Sending it now -back- to you, because of James' interesting prepended
comment, concerning an increase in EYE TUMORS among cell tower
installers and calibrators -- yikes!

It is reasonable to view use of a cell phone, heath-wise, as being roughly
similar to cigar-smoking. Over the long haul, it will bring down your state
of health, and other people in the room will be exposed to the poison.
Parents who give their children a cell-phone may wind up destroying their
health in a manner just as bad as if they had given their kids cigars to
smoke. This will, of course, be hotly denied by parents who have already
given such a gift to their kids, as who could possibly believe that our
government officials and health professionals would be so grossly negligent
or ignorant about such a major health factor. And of course, nobody could
rationally believe that the major corporations would willfully deceive the
public on a matter that would destroy people's health in such a widespread
manner, merely for the sake of financial gain.
Those same parents might have forgotten the 1950s corporate advertisements:
"Nine out of ten doctors recommend Lucky Strike cigarettes over other
leading brands" with handsome actors in the foreground, holding their
smokes, looking so "sexy and natural", as they blew the smoke around, and
several white-coats in the background, also casually holding their smokes
while chatting "naturally". Today, the same configurations are played out
with the cell phone, or "Handy" as they are affectionately called in Europe
(like some kind of pet) being pushed along by profiteering corporations,
colluding professionals, and a willfully-ignorant public desperate to be
"sexy and natural" -- all you need to become a part of the New
Technological Revolution is the latest internet-ready, whiz-bang Handy. You
can then walk the streets in confidence that you will be noticed and
admired.
A fellow recently contacted OBRL who had quit his job in the cell-phone
industry, basically because his health was going to hell. He said there is
an unreported increase in eye tumors and other health problems among the
workers who install and calibrate the cell-phone relay towers and antennas
-- on the tops of high-rise buildings and similar elevated locations --
which is being covered up by the industry, and that a major public health
crisis is developing within those smaller groups. A larger public health
crisis from the actual cell phones may take longer, as the exposure levels
are lower, though biologically significant and perhaps similar in nature to
the hazards of cigar smoking. OBRL-News has posted a number of similar

Scientist raises new mobile phone fears
LONDON, Nov 25 (Reuters) - Children who use mobile phones risk suffering
memory loss, sleeping disorders and headaches, according to research
published in the medical journal The Lancet.
Physicist Dr Gerard Hyland raised new fears over radiation caused by mobile
phones and said under 18-year-olds, who represent a quarter of Britain's 25
million mobile users, were more vulnerable because their immune systems
were less robust.
"Radiation is known to affect the brain rhythms and children are
particularly vulnerable," Hyland said.
"The effect of microwaves from a mobile phone is a bit like interference
on a radio. It has an impact on the stability of cells in the body. The
main effects are neurological, causing headaches, memory loss and also
sleeping disorders," he added.
He said there was too much uncertainty about the potential dangers of
mobile phones.
"If mobile phones were a type of food, they simply would not be licensed
because there is so much uncertainty surrounding their safety," he said.
Hyland's findings came as the government launched a new task force to
study the possible risks of mobile phones.
A government-commissioned inquiry into potential risks said in May that
children should be discouraged from using mobile phones.
Fresh evidence about the impact of mobile phones on children's brains
follows research in early November showing that hands-free mobile phone
kits can significantly boost the brain's exposure to radiation.
Scientists agree that electromagnetic radiation from mobile phones warms
brain tissue although it remains unproven that they pose a human health
risk.
But Hyland said the real risk was from low intensity radiation known as
non-thermal radiation, not brain heating.
