As Ms. Bergman can tell you my cause is the cell towers going up over the schools here in Palm Beach County. However, wherever I go, people intertwine power lines with cell towers. Interestingly enough, I took John's suggestion and called the EMF Hotline. I spoke to a Mr. Cavender who said he was a toxicologist. Excuse my naivety, but is a toxicologist trained in EMF and MW/RF? The brochure he wanted to send me was written in 1995 by the Department of Energy. Is this the Department that regulates the powerline industry. Just like the FCC regulating the Telecom. industry! I'm sure not a shocker to all of "Roy Beaver" fans. He totally downplayed any evidence of leukemia and powerlines. He even told me of a new study which Mr. Beavers cites will be out soon, "RAPID" performed by our wonderful and honest government and the NIEHS. He said they studied rats and EMF for two years and found a NEGATIVE correlation between powerlines, leukemia, and rats. That means the mice who were less exposed got more leukemia. Being a cell tower activist I immediately referred to the Repacholi study where the rats who were exposed to RF frequencies of cell phones for 20 minutes a day had a two fold increase in lymphoma, BUT the telecom industry said you could not draw any conclusions from this study because it was done on rats and not on humans. Now our government is going to use a rat study to determine the safety of powerlines for humans. I asked the hotline how can you draw any conclusions when the study was only done for two years and not on humans? Answer: Would you want to participate in a controlled EMF study with EMF all around you? (I am every day--and I don't want anymore!) Enjoy reading your info. Mr. Beavers. I appreciate your tenacity and passion for the issue.
