Subject: mobile phone / EEG

Dear Mr. Beavers,
I thought that this is worth distributing - some of your members should
have it in their collection of evidences.

In "Bioelectromagnetics" (the leading peer review edition related to "EMF"
subject) No. 19/1998 there is a work of Dr. Gabriele Freude (et al.) which
(again) shows that mobile phone emissions do influence human EEG (brain
waves). The authors conclude that the nature of (definitely "non-thermal")
mechanism is still unknown, and that this work doesn't allow conclusions
about health (!?) but that the finding stresses the importance of further
research.

It's very interesting that the change in EEG in this research was much more
significant when the subject was occupied by an intellectual task! That
clearly corresponds to the subjective observation of ES persons that ES
symptoms are significantly worse when one is under stress, or engaged by an
intellectual or hard physical activity!

By the way, those who are new to this issue (and general public), could be
mislead by the moderate conclusion of this research which was necessary for
the authors to preserve scientific credibility. But anybody can bet the
further research wouldn't show that the change in brain waves was
beneficial (a kind of vitamin?!), especially having in mind the claims from
electrosensitive persons and other indices.

Anyway, the finding does (again) show that the existing standards were made
on the insufficient knowledge. And that the only correct answer to the
question "Are the mobile phones / towers safe?" is "We don't know!" -
saying "Yes" would be an intentional lie, or a matter of criminal
ignorance!

With respect,
Drasko Cvijovic
