Go-o-d Morning Roy: Your statement between the rows of asterisks deserves a
21-gun salute, which I accoard you by virture of the 2 lines each of 21 stars.
The Pontiff's visit to the US positively left the country, the world, but
especially St. Louis, a better place in which to live. Thank you for the good,
soul searching, illuminating words.

This email was forwarded to me by on of your members, to whom I am extremely
grateful. Do you, and can I, have contact information for Linda Statham? Like to
offer suggestions to her; will copy you. Want to bring this situation to the
attention of US Reps Newt Gringrich and Ed Markey who fathered the Telecom Act
of 1996. It is evident that this powerline is moving through this virgin land to
serve the telecommunications industry. Phone companies are piggy-backing on
power / transmission lines to get PCS and cellular wending through pristine
neighborhoods. Just last week, I had a row with AT&T for increasing my phone
rate to pay for rural telephone service. I asked them, "Why the federal
government's Rural Utilities Services (RUS, formerly the REA) was not doing
that. That is the sole purpose of the RUS. I know this because when I moved to
Washington, I work the the National Rural Utilities Finance corporation whose
member rurual utilities are required, by law to provide affordable (open areas
require expansive lines) telephone service. Isn't this double dipping by the
telephone companies and the RUS? What is happening to the funds the government
is allocating to the RUS?"

The matter outlined in the news article you circulated must be promptly
addressed. Otherwise, the utilities claiming "eminent domain" will destroy every
natural resource of this country. Fact is that powerlines enjoyed eminent domain
because the government classified them as a monopoly (solely provide a utility).
But that is no longer true. Deregulation, and competition allows them the UNFAIR
ADVANTAGE of carrying carcinogenic RF into and through innocent neighborhoods.
On this issue, Congress must recognize that the public is not sleeping; pronto!!

Bert

Hi everybody:

Linda Statham steered me to the following. I decided to pick it up
and send it to all -- because it reminds me so much of my power company
days..... We acted just like Georgia Power.....

Our Society seems to have simply gotten lost! Our priorities have been
(are being) defined by a few powerful people/companies ... on behalf of
their own selfish "special" interests.

"The people" don't count. God's gifts of a wonderful natural world don't
count. Clearly, public health and safety don't count. And the
"democracy" which we once 'thought' we had -- is no longer a part of the
process.....

If those selfish priorities are EVER going to be REDEFINED -- WE are the
ones who must do it.....

Cheerio.....
