Roy, nothing could be more terrible than having to cope with the poor health of our children, therefore it is with a little trepidation that I would like some information on the new invisible dog fencing that I am seeing advertised at every vet in our neighborhood. I am also seeing them being purchased by my neighbors. According to the company brochure a transmitter is located in your garage or basement which transmits a radio signal through an antenna wire buried around the edge of one's property. The wire sends a signal to a tiny computer worn on the dog's collar. The signal tells the dog where it's safe to play. The dog is trained to obey the signal. Invisible fencing systems also work indoors. I talked to one neighbor who has had it for three years and, in her own words, she described it as sending a small shock to the dog. It also 'reacts' when the dog barks. I find it very interesting and perhaps a little barbarous although my neighbor is completely happy with the system and swears by it. I would be grateful if anyone could advise me on what specific questions I can ask the company that manufactures this type of fencing. Am I presuming that we are once more talking about some sort of electro-magnetic field around one's property? Let alone what the animal is receiving. A transmitter is one's garage? Any advice is most welcome. Best wishes, Stephanie Archive provided courtesy of WaveGuide, http://www.wave-guide.org Reprinted with permission of Roy Beavers, http://www.emfguru.com
