.......Yes, I think that my view on this is very much on the record.....
Fiber optics are superior in many respects (including cost) when compared
to the wireless option for high volume traffic situations.....

In certain low volume situations, the wireless can "win." i.e.,
The advantages of a lady being able to carry a phone in her handbag
for emergency situations.....

As we have all noted, though, the wireless industry is making no
distinction WHATSOEVER in its high pressure sales effort -- even
such obvious high volume (many bits of info) situations as TV and
data transmission is their target.....

I believe that, eventually, the economics of the situation will prevail
and there will be a noticeable move to fiber optic cable, except for
those situations wherein unique requirements will turn require
the wireless alternative....

In the meantime, just look at all the $$$$$$$ to be made on Wall $treet
by Nokia, etc....... (Those $$$$$$ can be lost almost as easily, too....)

Cheerio.....

Hi Bert and Roy.
I do not know anything about American politics, so I will only comment on
the Wireless Scenario:
Wireless communication IS NOT faster than wire bound. There is only so much
bandwidth to be had, and if you are wireless you will have to fight with
everyone else in order to get your message through -it's like trying to hold
a private conversation in a public place where every one is shouting at the
same time...
Fibres (or copper wires) do not have this problem.

I think there is a slight confusion about signal transmission speed (which
is a smaller problem) and data tranfer speed (which is very important). It
is true that wireless signals travel somewhat faster than wire bound, but
the capacity to transfer data is supperior in optical fibres.

The "only improvement" wireless gives is - no wire.

Best Regards
