Beavers"To: emfguru -------------------------------------------------- Hi everybody: .......Here is a good case to watch!!! A good aggressive group, too.... I want to say something about the "franchise" issue that is raised below..... As a former utility man, I regard the "franchise power" -- which virtually all communities have the right to exercise over utilities that want to operate in that community -- AS THE MOST UNDER USED WEAPON WE HAVE FOR DEALING WITH THE EMF ISSUE....!!! Because a utility MUST obtain a franchise (contract) from the community in order to "serve" the community (in most states) ... that community has **every right** to include in that franchise contract any terms or conditions it wants, vis-a-vis "health and safety" ... or anything else....!!!! Use it..... That is also a good way for activists to FORCE the local politicians into dealing with a problem they would otherwise ignore....!!!! Use it.....!!!! Cheerio..... Our neighborhood has met together several times. We decided to get several lawyers all pursuing different angles. Legalality, property devaluation, health and safety issues,ect... We have wrote letters to our County Commissioners and State Senator. Due to our letter writing and the fact that the power company was so devious with not notifying people and they started work without proper permits, the County Commissioners made the Power Company stop work. Two weeks later we had a meeting with theCounty Commissioners and The Power Company. Again the County Commissioners would not reinstate the permit for the high voltage power lines. The Power Company has made some big mistakes trying to be so devious. They have lied on federal documents and on permits. I feel anyone dealing with a similar issue should go through all documents with a fine tooth comb because they do make mistakes! The Power Company is now requesting a new county franchise to allow them to put their power poles wherever they want on county property. There is a meeting next week to decide. I will have to keep you posted to the out come.If you have any information you think would help, please let me know.
