The reason I discount the anxiety explanation is that when the technician pulled me out, my pulse was normal and I was relaxed, even though I had felt sharp pain and then numbness. I teach relaxation for a living, and I have even had stitches with no anesthesia and no anxiety! We used to raise livestock and had an electric fence with a pulsed charge. Once one of my animals got tangled in the fence and when I tried to pull her leg loose I was shocked. The sensation I felt with the pain running down my arm and cramping in my chest was exactly the same as the sensation I experienced during the MRI. By the way, the incident occured during the third phase of the MRI cervical scan. Years ago when watches were self-winding, I had to have mine repaired several times. The watchmaker said the damage that he was seeing usually only happened in watches worn by people who worked for utility companies or other occupations where they were near high voltage. Apparently my body just does strange things with electrical fields. Hopefully it's just an isolated incident because of my genetic makeup...I would not wish it on anyone!
