.......I hope we will get some more feedback on the Hyland paper --
also Ed's comments below..... "Out there," I'm sure you all know there
are so-called EMF "authorities" (like John Moulder as well as Bob
Park) still claiming that there is absolutely "nothing to this EMF
biological activity" phenomenon..... I guess, if one is going to
continue to be included among industry's "expert witnesses" -- that's
what one has to say.....

Cheerio.....

Hello Roy,

Thank you for again sending Dr. Hyland's memo. The mention of
"biophotons" brought to mind a study published many years ago. It
went something like this:

A culture culture of an organism, say a streptococcus, was set up in
each of two adjacent test tubes. Gradually, in small increments, an
antibiotic was added to one of the test tubes. The organisms in the
treated test tube soon became resistant to the antibiotic but the
organisms in the adjacent test tube did not.

The same experiment was repeated with the exception that the test tubes
were now crystal (able to transmit ultraviolet light). This time the
organisms in the untreated test tube become just as resistant to the
antibiotic as those in the treated test tube. The inference is, of
course, that biophotons from organisms in the treated test tube taught
the organisms in the untreated tube how to resist the anti-biotic agent.

Light clearly plays a physiologic role in plant life via
photosynthesis. Its role in animal life, though not always appreciated,
is well known. Rickets, a bone disease of children, is prevented by
sunlight and vitamin D for example.

Bill Curry will confirm that there are two mechanisms in physics whereby
electric and magnetic fields affect photons. The Faraday effect entails
the rotation of polarized light in magnetic fields. The Kerr effect
describes a similar effect with regard to electric fields.

Let me strongly echo Dr. Hyland's admonition urging adequate research of
the physiologic/pathologic roles which electromagnetic fields play in
living systems.

Put another way, let us stop using our children as guinea pigs.

Kudos to you for again publishing Dr. Hyland's memo.

Ed Maxey
