Subject: EMF Exposure

Hello!

I just joined the discussion group- great information. I have some
questions specific to my environment: I recently bought a house which is
close to high voltage power lines (138 kilo volts). I got concerned about
the effects of EMF when I learned about them. Yesterday, we measured the
magnetic field around the house and it looks like a strength of 4 to 5 mG
exists in the backyard while that in the house is around 1.5 to 2 mG (the
field right below the powerlines is 12 mG). Some studies in the US have
recommended an exposure of less than 2 mG. I have a two year old who plays
in the back yard. In your opinion will it be a good idea to avoid that
exposure? Also, some of the papers I have seen talk about "long term"
exposure. What constitutes a "long term" exposure?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
