To: roy@emfguru.com I just finished a quick read of George Carlo's book, "Cell Phones: Invisible Hazards in the Wireless Age." It appears that Dr. Carlo does not understand several fundamental concepts of the U.S. safety standards. First, he seems to confuse peak SAR (over any 1g of tissue) and whole-body average SAR. Second, he says the standards are based upon a showing of no adverse effects below an SAR of 40 W/kg (when the standards are based upon no adverse effects below 4 W/kg). Third, he refers to an arbitrary safety margin of 25x (when the safety margins are 10x and 50x). Am I missing something here? These apparent blunders are troublesome to me, considering Dr. Carlo spent $25 million to research the adequacy of the safety standards. Has anyone else read this book?
