Subject: The quandary of the average citizen (Laurel). Date: Fri, 05 Jan 2001 091745 -0600 From: Roy BeaversTo: guru -------------------------------------------------- ........From EMF-L....... I am sending this to the list because I know how typical it is of the quandary many people face when they first encounter this EMF issue. I hope that many of you will respond direct to Laurel. (Our list is most efficient when you communicate directly -- with copy to guru -- rather than when you respond just to guru for retransmission.) Laurel -- perhaps the answers don't all come at once. It does take some time and repeated 'exposure' to make sense of some of it. Also, don't be hesitant about obtaining professional help. Just be sure that whomever you obtain ... is QUALIFIED and INDEPENDENT (not under the influence of the company with a vested interest) and is doing his job with YOUR interest in mind -- not the power company's or the local government (that so often is BEHOLDEN to the power company). In some states, the power companies even control the commissions that are supposed to be regulating them!!! As to the Bill Curry questions -- I'll leave those for Bill, himself, to answer. He is VERY busy, I know. But you can certainly rely on his qualifications and objectivity......We have other qualified people, too, who should reply to you......One answer here -- the gauss meter is NOT the right instrument for microwaves...... This situation is but another good example of how BADLY our democratic governmental system (that serves THE PEOPLE??!!) is FAILING in its most fundamental purpose......!!!......guru..... -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: Did phone masts kill Ena, 87? I have been generally replying directly to people's e-mail addresses...I suddenly thought that I might want to ask you if you have any rules you have in mind? I was very interested in a lot of the recent mail that has been on the mailing list. I would like to ask Mr. Curry how to take a radiation density reading? I do not know what device is needed, nor whether you must hire someone to take it to have any credibility. I have found that our Electrical utilities give gauss meters to people to take readings if requested, but would not give us one, because they could "see no need to do so". So when I purchased a gauss meter, and took readings myself the credibility of the reading had doubts cast upon it, because the meter itself did not belong to the utility, and so had it's measurements in doubt in some self-serving way. Are the pulse magnitudes peak readings on an oscilloscope at the peak of of the wave form? Does an oscilloscope just plug in to the electrical system to turn on? Does it read RF and Microwaves/microwatts? Radio Shack has just seemingly refused to sell me a small oscilliscope that I tried to purchase from them early in December, first they refused to ship it overnight, then it did not come in to the store 5 to 7 days later as promised originally, then they put it on "backorder", then they decided that they no longer carried the item-too bad for me, sorry. I assume it is the device most useful for our situation... I think you must have another meter for microwaves? I have recently had a red, hives-like rash develop on my leg, possibly from wave forms, or possibly from food poisoning, and I was interested in why this man would have red legs from Cellular radiation poisoning. Does electro-radiation sensitivity have particular aspects that are documented? My husband seems to be unable to even discern some of the radiation effects that I find affect his heartbeat, except that he gets hot, and starts to sweat, and his heart is beating faster. I can feel the waves hitting my hand, for example. Is that a sensitivity symptom, or do you or does Mr. Curry also know whether the average person feels the pulsed wave form in the air? I am uncertain whether I can relate to others that they would feel a wave form in the air or whether it takes a electrosensitivity to it to feel it on your skin for example. For example when the residents say the radiation is "light" at 25 microwatts, how do they "know" that? Because they do not have the same pain? Because they do not feel a pulsed waveform in the air, or vibrating their home's walls? Does electron beam welding work in a similar fashion to RF welding, or to laser beams? I was appreciating this also, from Mr. Curry's letter "I think the time has come and is long overdue to separate the promotional and regulatory activities of the FCC." This was a reply I just received from the FCC (And believe me, I am happy that they did reply instead of leaving no response as my answer) regarding my worries about a Time-Warner change to our neighbor's cable lines which increased the fields being thrown across and under our bed one particular evening. I find it frightening, actually, that the FCC is making deals every single day with the cable companies, and this is their reply regarding cable company dangers. "Chairman William E. Kennard has requested that I respond to your inquiry. I appreciate the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately, the FCC cannot assist you in this matter. The FCC's RF rules generally apply to entities licensed by the FCC. Since cable companies are not licensed by the FCC, the rules do not apply. For additional information, please visit www.fcc.gov/oet/rf/safety. " Well, I have asked you quite a few questions...Thank you for any answers that you or Mr. Curry might have.
