Subject: EMF DC Power line in the Baltic Sea Date: Tue, 22 Jul 1997 042509 -0500 (CDT) From: Patrick.Lindahl@emw.ericsson.se To: Multiple recipients of list <emf-l@mail.llion.org> -------------------------------------------------- DC power line under the Baltic Sea Yesterday (21st july) the Swedish government approved to a DC Power line between Sweden and Poland. This power line has only one leader, while the the return current will go thru the water. Protests against this line has come from the fishermen in the south in Sweden, meaning that the electrode, that has to be put on the bottom, 20.000 sq meter big (50 acre) is disturbing the fish in the area. The area is an important place for cod and eel to reproduce, and this will be greatly disturbed by the chlorine generated by the electrode. The fishermen also claims that the geomagnetic field will be disturbed, making it difficult for the fish to find its birth place when it comes back from its travelling. The power company, Vattenfall, is the major power supplyer in Sweden and is owned by the State. Vattenfall also owns 10 of the 12 nuclear plants in Sweden where chlorine has been forbidden due to the environment....
