Dear tianeys, Different monitors give off different field strengths.
Many of the monitors produced in the last several years have reduced
their ELF and VLF emissions, but some of the earlier monitors still in
use in schools, particularly elementary schools which get the
hand-me-downs, give off much stronger fields. So you should get hold
of a gaussmeter and see whether you are under 1 mG at about 2' away.
Also, you should have a moveable keyboard so you can sit back from the
monitor. There are also shields that go around the neck of the tube
but installation is tricky (and dangerous because of a capacitor which
remains charged after the monitor is turned off). Another type is
external to the monitor and works quite well.
Once a person becomes electrosensitive, the sensitivity may go way up.
At least you can pay attention to your own symptoms and act accoring
to what feels better or worse.
I hope someone in the electrosensitivity field responds to your
request before we go off line for the summer. Karl Riley
