I finally have an answer to that question, and I don't think Cathy would mind if I quote her. I had asked if she were ill, and she replied, "No, I am not ill. Just tired of carrying the entire burden of the day-to-day management of the Alliance on my shoulders for the past decade . . . Am taking a while off to have a life, make some money and spend some time with my husband." It appears to me that Cathy is suffering "burnout" and is wisely letting the burdens she has been shouldering for so long be carried by others for a while. For those new to the group who don't know Cathy Bergman or the EMR Alliance, she founded this organization about ten years ago to spread the word about the health hazards of EMF. It is now a non-profit organization, but sought this status only in the past 2 or 3 years; previously, she ran it as her own and was therefore able to engage in political activity. She has worked tirelessly to fight the Congressional efforts to ram wireless telecommunications down the throats of an American public that does NOT want it, and has largely succeeded in fighting off the worst of the abuses that Congress had planned to inflict on us. And she has increased the public awareness of the health hazards associated with the electromagnetic fields around electric power lines. Her personal life has been badly neglected during this period, and her finances have been drained, so I think she is very wise to be reordering her priorites. But those of us who know her miss her, at the same time we wish her well. -- Marjorie _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
