To my knowledge 99% of domestic alarm systems now use passive infra-red
sensors which look for moving body heat and are connected by wire.
These usually don't give off anything although some systems are fed by
an "double insulated" mains transformer and are not "earthed". This
causes them to give off elevated levels of power-frequency electric
fields within two or three feet of the wires. Easily cured by earthing.
The same comment applies to wired door and window switches.

Doppler microwave alarm systems do exist and are mainly used by military
and other high security units where they also need to detect moving
objects which my be heat-screened so as not to show body heat such as
vehicles or small drones. They are MUCH more expensive and not
appropriate for domestic use.
