Subject: ESA and Electrosmog (how nice...)

Hi all,

The new director of the ESA (European Space Agency), Antonio Rodota,
gave an interview which appeared under the title "What the ESA does
against Electrosmog" in a Swiss daily newspaper on 13 June 1998:
(full text in German at http://www.baz.ch/archiv/article_16833.html )

....

......
Newspaper: "So the environment[al protection] is a main emphasis at ESA ?"

Rodota: "Yes, and there I even think of electromagnetic pollution.
Considering that all terrestrial transmitting installations (e.g.
for radio and TV) are designed to reach virtually every neck of
the woods, some achieve high transmission power and thus electro-
magnetic smog. OTOH, with TV programs transmitted by satellites,
their signals reach the ground with only a minimal transmission
power and thus virtually don't contribute to the electromagnetic
         pollution."

Newspaper: "Interesting note. Hardly anyone may have considered this."

BLUE WORLD..... More on this on guru's web-page.]

Greetings,
Chris
