Wireless LANs  can use either Infra-red or Radio Frequency (I forget the RF
specs - carrier frequency, modulation, etc.), I thought I had something in
the archives, couldn't find it. I know the manufacturers have info on the
net.

One lists this: "Uses the standard 902 to 928 MHz or 2.4 GHz spread
spectrum radio bands."
