Elena,

     I agree with the "guru" - maximize publicity! Put some babies in front of
a cell antenna and paint skull X crossbones on them - anything - be drastic.
Try to imagine how much the cell companies are paying these "spit and shined"
lawyers/experts to be there - they are getting paid to come there and shove
this stuff down the citizens throats - and make you feel guilty for not going
along with them. They are Professional Hawkers.

     Channel 7 / 10 / 13 / Roanoke Times / Salem Times Register / 60 Minutes
(all news type media). TV is hesitant to cover it because it steps on their
own toes.

     Put your petition in any stores or shops in the area who will do that.

     The FCC thing says a refusal to locate a tower cannot be on the grounds
that the RF is a health hazard - I think. But, somewhere in all this stuff,
somewhere a judge ruled that it can be talked about, openly discussed - just
can't be the "basis" for the decision (can always site other reasons for
refusal). I think the VA Beach thing was based on a great number of local
citizens being opposed to it in their neighborhood.

     Again, I hope you are video taping these events.

     Questions to ask: (Specifically to Board Members, Cell Company people,
Church people)

     - Sir, (Members of the Board, Triton, etc.) will you sign this document
here that says you personally swear that to the best of your knowledge, there
are no health risks involved with ANY of the equipment that will be mounted on
the tower in question? (Remember, other things can go on the tower besides
cell antennas)

     - Why doesn't Triton try to use the power line towers already existing on
Grandin Road extension and around the close area? Be sure to press for why
not? (These companies want to own their own towers - they get rent for
allowing other vendors - but other vendors want their own towers - catch 22.
Really press for why not existing power line towers - and/or more remote areas
as well.)

     - What is the church getting out of this? Money (how much?) - their own
broadcast/reception space on the tower?

     - Once the tower is approved, who has a voice in any other type of
equipment that may go on the tower? How much equipment?

     - Sir, (Board, Triton) will you sign this document that if in the future
it is proven that there is a health hazard associated with equipment on the
tower, that equipment will be shut off immediately, and then removed?
(something to that effect).

     - Sir, (Board, Triton) will you sign this document that says if a permit
for a site is applied for within (Elena, the distance from your house to this
tower site) this distance of your home at (get addresses of the Board -
attys., etc.) you will not be opposed to the site?

     - Ask specifics about property values, their children, - ask for their
PERSONAL assurances - not "elected official" or "attorney" answers - put their
personal integrity in question.

     My feelings are to try to get these decision makers, and marketers to
personally, in public make a personal statement/committment to the situation
in question. Ask them personally.

     Remember about cell companies and related - it is nothing more than the
damned dollar! If it were about anything else - progress, technology, your
health, welfare, etc. - they would not be here! 

     Oh, how I get upset with all this stuff!
