Beavers" Subject: Re: (Evans) Re: Light bulb/radar (fwd) John: I like your idea! I rec'd a poster with a "no" symbol on it (red circle with a diagonal line running through it) covering up a jumble of towers and antennas. The message blo says "WARNING - You are living in a non-ionizing radiaiton zone" I got this from a group in Southern California who were opposing a large facility of towers and antennas 150 feet at the same level as their homes!ll The measurements were quite high and there had already been several deaths and serious health problems. When faced with the facts and the graphics, the town revoked the permits. The facts - the engineering report and the calculations which relate tot he kjnown reserach along with graphics like these or Deb's T-short design, are very effective. I have noticed a stronger, more intense, reaction from local planning bodies when I have recently used this approach. My son has accompanied me on these excoursions. I am planning a forum at my church as you may know. When I made the first announcement I used this sign. Some people got very upset and said I was "biased" - this is supposed to be an educational forum. But it did get their attention! I live in Marin County - one of the most prideful counties in the U.S. aobut its open space. One of the most preferred high tech areas ripe for future developmente. We are facing a mounting clash between the progrowthers and the non-progrowthers, like me. The wireless technology here is bieng promoted as an "environmentally safe and convenient" alternative for people who want to run their furtune 500 corporation out of their home and send high speed digital transmissions at microwave frequencies - like George Lucas. It is difficult to get them to stop thinking green - about all the mney they are making, that is. The forum I am planning was proposed for an "Earth Day is Every Day Award" in the county. It was denied - an idea whose time has not come yet. Bedst regards, Libby Kelley It is on an easel in the narthex of the church and will be in evidence the day of the event. I will try to remember to send it once the forum os over. really, really busy right now.
