The beginning (and essential) step is to educate the public about the
problem..... I know that is easy to say and difficult to do, but it
is the first hurdle you must get over before other community action
is possible.

Anything you do in that regard can help. But try to concentrate on the
kind of activity that will bring the problem to the attention of the mass
media, newspapers, TV, etc..... Sometimes a paid half-page ad in the
local newspaper which sets for the what is now known about EMF ... is an
effective approach. Or ... another approach that works, get a half dozen
or so copies of Ellen Sugarman's book and distribute to key people -- city
council, news people, etc.....

Cheerio.....

Subject: Roanoke, VA Tower

Hi, I'm new to this list but have been fighting for over a month a l20' cell
tower which is trying to be placed by AT&T right behind my son's elementary
school. This Tuesday is the 2nd Planning Comm hearing, it has already been
approved once. I've created quite a stir but not nearly enough I'm afraid. A
column was written up on it in the Roanoke Times this Monday and I'm finally
gathering some interest. If you'd like a copy of the column I'd be glad to
send it. I'm very frustrated because I feel like I'm the only one in the
community fighting this. I only have about l00 signatures and it was like
pulling teeth to get that! Any suggestions?
Regards,
Elena
