......."2,000 times lower than the FCC standards".....??? A lawyer
will say most anything...... Remember Bill Clinton......

I just wish there was some way I could make it perfectly clear to
all ... that this cell phone antenna (or tower) matter is NOT about
"1" tower or "1" antenna ... it is about hundreds of thousands ... it is
about a Blue World ... that is getting bluer ... almost by the hour......

And, neither we ... nor our government ... nor the industry (certainly!)
... know what the effects of all that electromagnetically induced
biological activity is going to have on human health......!!!

Cheerio......

CHURCH CELL TOWER PROTESTED
By Pat Hartel, Associate Editor

OAKMONT- Neighbors of St. George's Episcopal Church on the corner of Darby
Road and Ardmore Avenue in Ardmore showed up at the Haverford Township
Zoning Board hearing Thursday night to protest the installation of
telecommunications equipment by Omnipoint Communications, Inc. within the
bell steeple of the church.

In addition, parents of children who attend Children's Ark, the childcare
facility located in the church's facilities, also voiced objections to the
installation.

The hearing had been continued twice. In its first testimony, Omnipoint
stated it needs the equipment to guarantee continuous coverage throughout
the area.

Cheryl Ciccone, a parishioner of the church as well as a neighbor, testified
Thursday night to having driven around the area with three different
cellular phones and having no difficulty in reaching her home with any of
the three: one serviced by Cellular One Communications, one an ATX
Communications phone and one, an Omnipoint phone.

Although present, Ciccone's testimony in letter form was read to board
members by Chairman Evelyn Yancoskie.

"I traveled two miles west up Darby Road, north on Route 320, right on Bryn
Mawr Avenue, east on Haverford Avenue, back to Ardmore Avenue, then heading
south to Ellis, Prescott and over to Eagle Road. There were multiple calls
recording a clear signal throughout the area in question." Ciccone's letter
said.

"This places serious doubt to prior Omnipoint testimony regarding the
necessity of the proposed antenna at 1 Darby Road in order to provide
adequate coverage," Ciccone said.

"There is an existing tower at the Haverford Township office, about 3/4th of
a mile from the proposed location. There is also an Omnipoint antenna
located at Mercy (Community) Hospital. There will soon be an antenna at the
Haverford State College site. The proposed antenna at Ardmore Avenue and
Darby Roads will cover less than a mile," the letter continued.

"Omnipoint represents a very small percentage of the Haverford residents who
use cell phones. Do not compromise our community to compensate for the
inefficiencies of Omnipoint's system," Ciccone said.

Ciccone also mentioned receiving no word from the church or its rector about
the pending installation. "Some neighbors within a half block had no idea
this was happening," she said.

Neigbors June King and Josephine Pogue, both of Hermosa Lane, testified they
had concerns about radiation from the cellular antenna harming the children
in the day care center by causing Leukemia.

"You have to consider the welfare of the children in the township," Pogue
said. "There are 94 children in the Ark and health hazards for this are
unknown."

When Omnipoint Attorney, George Asimos called Dr. Marvin Ziskin as an expert
witness to testify, Dr. Ziskin rebutted any claims that the radiation from
the antenna would harm the children. Based on criteria from the National
Council on Radiation Protection, he siad, the effect of the cellular
emissions from the antenna would be "2,000 times lower than the Federal
Communication Commission standards."

Testimony was adjourned at 11 p.m. The hearing will be continued but a date
has not been set.
