They seem to be primarily basing their "much out of date" advice on the infamous Linet study -- cited below as the proof that proximity to power lines is O.K........ God help us....... Cheerio..... DO YOU KNOW OF OTHERS WHO SHOULD BE ON THIS LIST??? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Wed, 8 Mar 2000 00:50:28 -0500 From: Robert Collom To: "Roy L. Beavers" Subject: RE: EMF Proximity to Homes Mr. Beavers, Thank you for responding so quickly. Can you provide additional information? We spoke with the chief of the oncology department at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital here in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He stated that there was no danger. We also received information from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - they concurred. Further, they stated, "I would like to refer you to a Research Update, February, 1998 which is on our website and which addresses this issue: The Society's Research Update - 2/98, states the following: Study Finds Electromagnetic Fields Do Not Raise Children's Leukemia Risk. A comprehensive study by researchers from the National Cancer Institute and the Children's Cancer Group found no evidence that electromagnetic fields in the home increase the risk for acute lymphocytic leukemia, the most common form of childhood cancer." [........The Linet study!!!..... No attention whatsoever to all the criticism which showed that, in fact, the study confirmed a "proximity" problem -- as have two recent (bigger studies) in the U.K...... This is all covered on the website ... and in the archives......guru.....] [.......I can only repeat my answer to your original question: I would NOT purchase a home within as much as 300 feet from a power line of 138 kV or greater..... And, in some cases, I would avoid certain "heavy" load distribution lines, transformers and substations.....guru.....] [Mr. Collom, I don't believe you are being given "informed - currently valid" information from the sources you checked with.......guru.......] [.......Please examine the website...... We receive too many individual questions of this type for me to review the website material, selectively, for each individual questioner.......guru.....] Please help Robert Collom -----Original Message----- From: Roy L.
