This one clearly merits some attention!!! I wonder if the "power"
switch really matters in these cases ... where "thermal effect"
is more likely culprit (vis-a-vis EMF effect, that is)?????

Dear Roy,
This is an interesting question. I had a phone call this week from a man
inquiring re cordless phones and health effects. Thsi was triggered by the
death of his mother from a large cell lymphoma where the primary lesion was
in the neck. She was a heavy user of a cordless phone for 2-3 years (up to
4 hours per day). He had said to her that he thought that she was using it
too much. Her reply was "Look at XXX (25 y.o. woman friend) - she uses her
cordless phone much more than I do and she's not suffereing any problems".
Well, after the death of his mother, the 25 y.o. has come down with
lymphoma. And he had heard about a third case of lymphoma in asimilar heavy
cordless user.
He asked me what I thought, and when I asked him about the power output of
the phone he said taht there was a switch on it which was labelled 2W and
4W, the higher output being for when the phone was 100 m from the station.
It is actually quite hard to get information about the characteristics of
these phones, so I have told him that I will investigate and get back to
him.
Although this is purely anecdotal and not verified, perhaps someone should
keep a register of such reports foir teh future?
Regards,
Peter French
