Your comment about your local community government becoming "proactive" on behalf of the people in the community ... rather than the "industry" forces ... prompts me to ask: Can you get them to do anything about the "big" government in Washington??? If your Mayor, city councilmen, school board members, etc., would get busy and "lean on" (lobby) your Washington congressmen and senators ... it could do a lot of good!!!!! Cheerio...... After the information forums and public hearings, no providers responded to the bids. Mostly I don't think that the need is so great that they are willing to go against public opinion. And, the FCC/FDA joint statement about possible interference caused our local hospitals to issue opinions that they were unwilling to support towers too close to their equipment. They are, rightfully, taking a conservative position. On the issue of placing towers at schools, we have won hands down. Our school board has withdrawn any support to place towers on their properties. I am certain that this issue isn't over. But, I hope and pray that we have arrived at the point where our city government is going to be more pro-active in considering these in the future. Many, many thanks to everyone who help me with research and words of support. I quite literally could not have gotten up to speed without having found this listserv and 'met' the wonderful people who responded. mj Archive provided courtesy of WaveGuide, http://www.wave-guide.org Reprinted with permission of Roy Beavers, http://www.feb.se/EMF-L/EMF-L.html
