Subject: Passing along a request from Neil Cherry...

Dear Roy:

I've just gotten a request from Neil Cherry to help him locate a study
on cancer incidence in Noe Valley, San Francisco...my own neighborhood.
Over the past ten years we have had the appearance of at least two and
possibly three cancer clusters, one or two among children and one among
the staff of the Alvarado School, also in our neighborhood. Neil is now
involved in a court case where he is jousting with Dr. Martin Meltz over
studies done of a childhood leukemia cluster in Noe Valley.

I'm looking for the following study independently but I thought the
members of your forum might have quicker access. Here's the citation for
the study requested by Neil:

Selvin, S., Schulman, J., and Merrill, D.W., (1992) Distance and risk
measures for analysis of spatial data: a study of childhood cancers.
Social Science Medicine, 34, 769-777.

I would also add my own request for any information forum participants
may have regarding other cancer studies in San Francisco. I'm hoping
someone may be able to shortcut a long and circuitous search on my part.

Please contact me if anyone has the study requested by Neil and we'll
figure out how to get it to him, either by fax or e-mail. I'm willing to
send the international fax over my line if someone will fax the study to
me. E-mail is even better. Dr. Cherry's e-mail is:

Thanks for your help. Christopher Beaver
