Hi everybody:

There are pros and cons to what Debbie suggests in her message below....
(Short info bios to tell readers about qualifications of contributors to
this list.)

One "con" that I suspect she is unaware of ... is that many of the
scientists -- in particular, but some others as well, media, lawyers
and politicians, for example -- simply will not participate if they
think they might be "identified." In the case of the scientists,
Debbie, it is a fact to which I can attest that their participation
_could_ jeopardize their livelihood, their jobs, their research funding,
their retirements, etc. I also am aware of electric utility employees who
"allegedly" have been warned to avoid this group.... (Still, I believe
we still have a few. Just as I know that we have many more scientists
than we hear from publicly.... I have lost some, though, once they
thought they had been "revealed.") It is a real problem, Debbie......
Believe me. I've been running this list for three years now.... I think
you have just recently joined?

So, the point is, Debbie, what you are suggesting can be a double-edged
sword. We would lose the input of many of the very people we want....

Nevertheless, the point of your suggestion is well taken. May I suggest
that -- particularly those of you who are making scientific or
technological input -- at the same time (and in the same message) tell us
'what you can' about yourself so that the readers of this list will have
some idea about the validity of your input...... In many cases "I" know
these people and know something about their qualifications, therefore I
have tried to exercise some judgment and not forward the input which "I"
considered "unqualified" ... or ... too marginal in value. But, I do not
claim that to be a wholly adequate "control" or "remedy." (In fact, as
most of you know, only about a third or less of what I receive gets
forwarded.)

Debbie (a lawyer?) makes a good point. Let's work with her on this.....

By the way, Debbie, I have provided my background many times..... It is
still there on my web-page -- in the very first message. It was also
recently printed by The Environmental News Service following an article
that I wrote for them , "EMF
Smog -- the Ugly Secret."

Thanks for your suggestion. Debbie (or is it Deb?)

Cheerio.....

Roy,
It would be a big help if we could know a bit about the background of people
sending messages. For example, I am the President of CANYON AREA RESIDENTS
for the ENVIRONMENT "CARE" which is an association of homeowners groups for
9000 residents in the foothills west of Denver. We are afflicted with the
largest and most complex antenna farm in a residental area in the country.
The Broadcasters just submitted a proposal to add much more which may double
the EMR that we experience. I have a BA in Human Biology from Stanford and am
a practicing attorney.

I would like to hear from more scientists, medical doctors and electrical
engineers.
Thanks,
Deb Carney
