Beavers" Subject: (Valdemarsson) (Fist) Satellite dish risks? (fwd) Hey folks... Have you measured POWER FREQUENCY ELECTRIC fields from these dishes??? All TVs, videos and satellite systems that I have examined (many, many hundreds in the UK) are all "double insulated" and only have a two-wire connection to the mains electricity supply. This means (in the same way as lap-top computers run off mains power) they float up to about half the mains supply voltage (i.e. 60 V ac USA and 115 V ac Europe). There is no POWER available but this floating voltage is real and means that the electric field strength close to the keyboard (lap top) and the TV, etc including the antenna co-ax cable can be many hundreds of volts per metre at about 5 cm distance and about 100 V/m at about a foot or so. Earthing the lap-top or the TV/Video/satellite box to a good mains electicity earth cures the problem completely. I have transformed some ES people's lives by doing just this. As satellite dishes are often next to bedroom walls this can be a significant problem - mainly from the co-ax cable. Earthing the braid of the co-ax generally will take the earth through the whole Satellite/Video/TV system. It is the E-field that ES people react most to.
