Missed opportunity... $$$$$ We could have changed the corrupted system!! $$$$$ McCain !! *** Democrats double top-tier donation WASHINGTON (AP) - Setting a new gold standard for political giving, the Democrats are asking their biggest donors to come up with a half-million dollars each for the party's upcoming gala. Those who deliver are being promised a sweet political reward: a private dinner the night before with President Clinton. The Democrats' new asking price doubles the quarter-million mark that was the standard for both parties the past few years, including the GOP fund-raising gala with George W. Bush that raised a record $21.5 million last month. "They just keep trying to jack up the limits," said Larry Makinson, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics, a private group that studies political money. "How long until they have the million-dollar club? This really shows you there is no end to the appetite for money."
