Again, I repeat the admonition I sent out earlier (and have many times
in the past): the present "state of the science" does not provide us
with "precise, black and white" answers to what is safe and what is not
... when it comes to the amount of Blue World exposure one should
allow.....
Nevertheless, I offer some of my opinions (educated guesses) below.....
What is REALLY needed, Mariana, is an honest "pro-people" government
effort on this subject ... but America's RICH bureaucracies do not
work for the people......!!!!!! Neither does this President, nor the
Congress, nor the Senate......!!!!!!
They are all busily working for the contributors of those millions of
$$$$$$$$ in campaign contributions which I reported to you in a message at
the end of last week, "Dems can do what the Republicans do".....
I received an angry response from somone about that message..... And here
is my answer: If you prefer not to receive the messages about the
political corruption of the American system ... please
delete them or ask to be removed from this list.......!!!
The reason we (the people) are not getting the proper action and
attention to the EMF issue (the power lines on play grounds like
Marianna's message below) ... is NOT because there is a lack of science
to enable us to take precautions..... It is because of a lack
of political guts..... Within a spineless government (both political
parties) that is owned by the $pecial interest$...... (Please go again
and read my "Mission Statement" on my website -- home page.....!!!)

Dear Roy Beavers,
Greetings. Janet Newton just gave me your email address so that I could
ask you the following question:
What are the risks of children playing under powerlines? The private
nursery school where I plan to enroll my child next year allows children to
play in a power line area near the school. I'm looking for documentation to
take to the school, IF it appears from the research that this is a bad idea.
The power line is NOT the only space available to the children for outdoor
play.
[........A mjor court case (Houston Light and Power vs Klein School
District in Houston, TX, 1985-89) determined that the power company
was at fault (endangered the life and health of the children) and was
required to move a power line it had constructed into a school ground.
In addition, a great deal more scientific information has been developed
since that case - which supports the contention that power lines should
not be constructed into areas where children are at school (or at
play or residing).... The latter statement is supported by thousands (or
millions) of words which have been promulgated on this net and elsewhere
where EMF/health issues are being researched and reported upon......
DON"T ask me to regurgitate it all again...... We have been here "shining
the light" on this issue for five years...... You must do some work on
that for your self..... Use guru's archives, as well as the website, and
the guidance of others who will be likely to respond to this
message....guru....]
If there are dangers, then how far do you recommend the children's play
area be from the power line?
[.........Guru is satisfied with the recommendation that was made by the
health authorities at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden about six years
ago...... But the Government of Sweden has treated it like it didn't
exist....!!! As have most other governments who do not want to face this
issue on an honest basis on behalf of their citizens -- rather than on
behalf of their BIG $$$$$$$$ industries........ Anyway, the
recommendation was that a separation of 100 meters (about 330 feet) should
be maintained between residences and the power lines......guru.....]

P.s. The power line is "only" a power line as far as I can see when I stand
out there. I.e., there are none of those fenced in stations visible.
