Roy,
In regard to the question you raised about why the press in this
country
ignores EM radiation issues, let me observe that 1) There is slowly beginning
to be more press coverage as more and more citizens are expressing outrage at
the preemption of their rights and their local officals' responsibilities to
regulate the telecommunications industry in their own locales. and 2) Don't
forget that the press and the radio and television stations are intimately and
inextricably interwoven - usually being owned and controlled by many of the
same companies. I think they see the handwriting on the wall that citizen
activism against unwarranted encroachments of the telecommunications industry
will eventually extend to other users of the electromagnetic spectrum - such
as high definition TV (which seems to be wanted by almost no one). Already
the spectacle of radiation "dumps" such as the antenna farms at Lookout
Mountain in Colorado, Sutro Tower on Mount Sutro in California, and the
complex radiation environment in Cape Cod (on account of the presence of the
Pave PAWS radar system, along with telecommunications systems) are frightening
citizens (with good reason) and demanding government regulation keyed to real
health concerns. My paranoid assumption is that this must frighten broadcast
station and network owners, so they probably have some stake in controlling
the news released to the public on these issues. Do you agree?
