Hi everybody:
My suggestion that Carl Blackman was among the early scientists
to recognize the validity of EMF bioeffects (from the EMF in our
environment) was not intended to credit him with the "discovery."
It was mainly to observe that he -- as a government scientist --
was one who was ***over-ruled*** by our political process. There
certainly were others in the scientific community who were ahead of
the U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in recognizing the
validity of that same fact. (IN other writing on this net and on
my web-site, I have placed the name of Robert Becker as among the
_earliest_ Americans. None of the Americans were as far ahead as
those "nameless" Russians who led the way in the world.....)
I have not made an exhaustive study on this aspect. We have some on
this list who have ***lived*** that history. They know more about this
than I do. I hope we will hear from them....
The (Oct. 25-27, 1998) declaration of the Vienna group, reinforcing these
early pioneers in the field, suggests that it is time to begin to recall
that early history and "put it all on the record" -- to give credit (and
blame!!!) where it is due......
Again, my reason for making the earlier comment (about Blackman) was
to make sure that the role of the U.S. ***political process*** in
contributing to the "cover up" was not forgotten.....
Dr. Johansson's contribution (below) is welcome. Others should
contribute also..... It is well known in the scientific community,
I believe, that Sweden has indeed played a major role in this EMF
discovery process. And there is no challenging the fact that he
has been one of the major contributors there.... Note! Sweden, too,
has ***not*** got a clean record when it comes to the behavior of its
political leadership in the face of the new knowledge about EMF hazards!

Just for the record, I think some of the very first to
recognize the EMF bioeffects as being scientifically
established was Bjorn Lagerholm in 1984/1985 and myself
in 1987/1988, or am I completely incorrect...?
I also, at a very early point, notified your President as
well as Senator Edvard Kennedy, however, they (or anyone
else at their offices) never responded, which is a little
bit odd having in mind the role of the Karolinska Institute
in the general scientific community...
Sadly enough, we were not invited to the Vienna meeting,
but, when I got the information I immediately sent the
fax form to Wilhelm Mosgoller.
